Meet Hayes
Hayes’ journey into the world of heavy music started early. As a kid, she was introduced to the thunderous sounds of Slayer thanks to her brother practicing guitar at full volume. During high school, her group of friends were part of the scene, though she couldn’t fully express herself through
style at the time. As she grew older, Hayes rediscovered her love for heavier music, finding it to be the perfect outlet for releasing the stress life throws at her.
Her path into radio began in late 2023, when she started hanging out at the local community radio station. Fascinated by the inner workings of live radio, she observed and learned from fellow hosts, eventually landing her own show in March 2024. Ever since hosting The Hot & Heavy Show has become the highlight of her week, allowing her to combine her passion for music with her love of connecting with others.
One of Hayes’ most transformative experiences was attending Good Things Festival 2023, her first-ever festival. This moment was extra special because, after battling health issues and losing 70kg, she was finally able to attend events without difficulty. The festival also marked a reunion with her best friend after seven years and the beginning of her relationship with her partner.
Aside from her love of music, Hayes is a multi-talented artist, playing guitar, piano, and singing. She dreams of releasing her own music one day, though her stage fright is a hurdle she’s still working on. When she’s not on air, Hayes enjoys riding her Harley, going to gigs, hanging out with her dog Cara, and discovering new places.
Her musical influences include Bring Me The Horizon, Harry Styles, Bad Omens, IPrevail, Sleep Token, and Raleigh Ritchie. She also takes great pride in discovering new and emerging artists and loves seeing her audience react to new music. Her ultimate goal with the show is to make Tuesday nights better for her listeners by creating a space where they can enjoy music that isn’t typically played on the radio.
Hayes puts her heart and soul into the show, which she does purely out of love for music, and she’s deeply grateful to her listeners for the incredible opportunities she’s experienced so far.
